Holland-born Jan Verkade is a retired businessman in the floral industry who has been in Asia for the past 25 years. He shares this roughly 6,700-square-foot mansion with his wife Julia. Mr. Verkade bought 1.2 acres of land for 24 million Thai baht ($800,000) in 2002 and started designing the house himself. Construction began in 2005 and was completed in July 2007.
