Opening Bid*: $16.1 million
Listing Agent: Richard Lewis, Sotheby's International Realty, (307) 690-8855.
Due Diligence: The owner of this contemporary home, Steve Ankeny, is a builder whose firm constructed Harrison Ford's house in the area. Mr. Ankeny finished building this residence, where he now lives, about two years ago. It sits in Gros Ventre North, a subdivision northwest of downtown Jackson. Mr. Ankeny says he paid $300,000 to $400,000 for the land about 15 years ago and estimates the cost of building the home at $11 million. Much of the cost went into architectural elements -- cast bronze urns, sconces and rift white oak. The use of the materials and the home's design were inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's work, Mr. Ankeny says. Jackson long has been a popular (and pricey) second-home market. Sales of homes $1 million and above increased 53% in the first quarter of this year compared with 2004, according to Jackson Hole Real Estate & Appraisal.

*The opening bid is Weekend Journal's estimate of a reasonable starting point for negotiations to buy the property, based on past sales, prevailing market conditions and interviews with local real-estate experts.
