Due Diligence: In 1994, real-estate developer Alan Bleznak and his wife, Kathy, purchased this red brick house in one of Philadelphia's Main Line communities, a long-fashionable area made famous by movies like "The Philadelphia Story." The house was built in 1925 by the Philadelphia architectural firm McIlvain & Roberts for James Carstairs, of the Carstairs Liquor family of Philadelphia. Later, the house sat unused and neglected for years, the Bleznaks say. The couple hired New York interior designer Bunny Williams to help restore double-entry doors, marble floors, wood moldings, imported carved Italian mantels and other details to their 1920s form. The Bleznaks also updated heating and plumbing. The 70-year-old Mr. Bleznak says he and his wife are spending most of their time traveling or in Palm Beach, Fla., where they own a home and are active on the social circuit.
