[House of the Week]

What: Seven bedrooms, seven full bathrooms in 27,000 square feet on 2.5 acres

Where: Costa Careyes on Mexico's Pacific Coast, about 100 miles south of Puerto Vallarta

Amenities: Swimming pool, billiards room, four guest homes, including a duplex with two bedrooms. A master suite has dual baths and changing rooms.

Asking Price: $12 million

Opening Bid*: $11.7 million

Listing Agents: Andres Yanome, Villas in Careyes, (52) 315 351 0252

Due Diligence: Actress Luciana Paluzzi and her husband, Michael Solomon, bought this property in 1996. Ms. Paluzzi played femme fatale Fiona Volpe in the 1965 James Bond film "Thunderball"; Mr. Solomon heads Solomon Entertainment, which creates and distributes foreign-language TV programming. Architect Manolo Mestre, who also designed a home in Belize for Francis Ford Coppola, here used a contemporary variation on a local style, creating a series of curving, linked huts with smooth-stucco walls and brightly colored interiors, Ms. Paluzzi says. The villa, on a cliff about 120 feet above the ocean, sits inside Peninsula de Estrellas, a gated community. Under Mexican law, Americans wishing to buy property in many parts of Mexico must do so through a real-estate trust set up through a Mexican bank, which holds titles for foreigners.

Corrections & Amplifications:
A previous version of this article showed a home and its views near Lima, Mont., instead of the Costa Careyes house, on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, that is the subject of the column.
