[House of the Week]

What: Six bedrooms, five bathrooms in 3,700 square feet on two-thirds of an acre.

Where: Los Angeles

Amenities: Maid's room; guest suite with separate entrance; library, media and game rooms; pool and large gardens.

Asking Price: $3 million

Opening Bid*: $2.8 million

Listing Agents: Marcia Glow, Prudential California Realty, 310-777-7800

Due Diligence: Screenwriter Bruce C. McKenna recently cut the asking price by $200,000 on this 1926 property in the Hollywood Hills section. Mr. McKenna and his wife, Maureen, bought the Mediterranean-style house seven years ago and spent the past few years doing renovations, including updated electrical and plumbing systems and more bathrooms, the listing agent says. They also added a pool, an outdoor fireplace, patios and exterior lighting. The property's master bedroom is en suite and opens to a large patio with views of the Hollywood sign. Neighbors include "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest and "CSI: Miami" star Khandi Alexander. Mr. McKenna, who co-wrote the 2001 HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers," says he and his wife plan to relocate to New Mexico when this house sells.
