Due Diligence: This 2004 townhouse was designed by New York architect Alexander Gorlin, who has built homes for architect Daniel Libeskind, publishing mogul S.I. Newhouse and Sire Records head Seymour Stein. Mr. Gorlin described the house as "glass cubes within cubes": The master suite is suspended above the living room, which is itself cantilevered over the front patio. Both the inner and outer cubes are faced with massive windows that are soundproofed. Its owner, tax consultant and amateur musician Robert Pollack, says his dream was to never have another neighbor tell him to turn his music down. The main level's single space serves as a kitchen, living and dining room, with guest bedrooms and the laundry room on the lower level. A long, straight staircase runs along the side of the house through the inside of the home, and out onto the roof deck. Mr. Pollack worked closely with the architect to design the house and has rented it out, rather than lived in it, for financial reasons. He says he hopes to sell the house and to build another home, possibly with Mr. Gorlin.
