by Sheree R. Curry

A recent National Fair Housing Alliance study says real-estate agents often steered African-Americans and Latinos away from affluent, white neighborhoods, despite buyer interest. Here are homes in welcoming affluent areas.

  • Buffalo Grove, Ill.
  • Purcellville, Va.

PLACE/PRICE: Jefferson, Ga./ $379,900

PROPERTY TAX*: $4,560 per year

THE PROPERTY: 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths built in 2006

NOTABLE: This 3,400-square-foot home, on a cul de sac in the Clover Mill Farms tennis court community, has a walkout basement, a deck and a porch. Stairs from the garage lead to the basement. The home is about an hour's drive from downtown Atlanta.
