Shower Power:
Multiple Spray Jets
The latest bathroom-remodeling status symbol: Devices that add horsepower to the showering experience.
These wall-mounted "body sprays" (essentially mini-showerheads) can be installed anywhere in the shower so jets spritz you from all angles. Manufacturers say that as more people embark on bathroom renovations (up 7% last year, according to National Kitchen & Bath Association), showerhead sales are rising.
Kohler Co. just started selling a brass "WaterTile," a 5-by-5-inch showerhead designed to blend in as just another tile in the wall ($119 to $199 each, at Kohler.com). One drawback: Installing these body sprays could require redoing the plumbing. Other options:
- Moen Inc. has a new "Felicity vertical spa" featuring four body sprays, a "Rainshower" head and a hand shower in various metals ($1,740 to $2,350, at showhouse.moen.com).
- Hansgrohe Inc. recently started selling a "Pharo lift" showerpanel, featuring a showerhead, hand shower and body sprays with adjustable heights ($2,385, at Hansgrohe-usa.com).
- In August, Danze will start selling body sprays with showerheads that pivot (in six finishes -- $70 to $100 per pair, depending on the finish; at Danze.com).
