Becoming a Landlord
Becoming a landlord can be a profitable way to invest your time and money. But leasing property, whether it's a house, apartment or spare room, takes a lot more than opening a bank account and depositing your rent checks every month. You've got to be careful about whom you're renting to and establish a healthy relationship with your tenants. If you're not well-versed in the legal issues, you risk ending up in court or losing your investment.
Before being accepted in law school, each student has to take the LSAT (Law School Aptitude Test). Landlords should have an equivalent assessment. Here is the SLAT, the Successful Landlord Aptitude Test. There is no passing grade.
